Bastard by J.L. Perry

REVIEWED By Ann Meemkem

BastardBastard by J.L. Perry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Carter is raised by his mom and never met his dad. They went to meet his grandparents and was hoping for a joyous reunion. What they got was his grandpa calling him a "Bastard". That one word changed how he viewed himself.

At the age of 17, Carter moves to a new town because his mom got married. His step dad views him as a bastard and a burden. He knows once he turns 18 he is leaving his house and it can't come soon enough. When they move in he meets Indiana his next door neighbor. He notices her right away. They share a love/hate relationship. Indiana sees through his facade and breaks down his walls. There friendship is filled with ups and downs. One night changes all that and Carter is scared to stay and see how things will go between them.

Carter gets a call 5 yrs later from his mom saying his step father is dead and she needs him. He goes to be with her during this difficult time. He has not forgot about Indiana. She holds his heart and always will. He will have to face his past and see what his future holds.

This is the first book I have read by this author and it was incrediable. I loved the characters and this story. It draws you in and puts your heart throw the wringer.I did not want to put my kindle down. This is a "Must" read and make sure you have tissues handy. I will definately be reading more books from this author.

I was given an arc for honest review by Joandisalovesbooks review team.
